Seminar for history and social science teachers

The Ukrainian Center for Studies of Holocaust History, in cooperation with the Belzec Memorial Museum, the Majdanek State Museum, and the Center for Urban History of East Central Europe held a seminar for history and social science teachers at secondary education institutions in Ukraine on the topic "The History of the Holocaust on the territory of Western Ukraine and Poland".
The seminar offered lectures and discussions as well as visits to memorial places connected with the Holocaust on the territory of Western Ukraine and Eastern Poland. Topics for discussion at the seminar included the history and culture of the Polish and West-Ukrainian Jewish population on the eve of and during the Second World War.
The seminar was held in Ukraine (Lviv) and Poland (Lublin, Belzec, and Sobibor). The first day of the seminar took place in Lviv on 31 March 2009 at the Center for Urban History from 1 pm until 6 pm. The following lectures were given:
- "The History of the Jews of Western Ukraine before the Holocaust" (Dr. Zhanna Kovba)
- "Ukrainian-Jewish Relations in a Historical Perspective" (Dr. Anatolii Podolskyi)
- "Ghetto and Holocaust in Western Ukraine: Evidence of Survivors – As Seen from the Polish-Jewish Perspective" (Dr. Robert Kuwalek)
