Yulia is a post-graduate student at the department of architecture and environmental design at the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering (Rivne). She will work on the topic of "Policy of the Second Polish Republic in the Development of Architectural Environment in Small Towns of Volyn (interwar period)." The research is part of her dissertation thesis "Architectural Spatial Transformations of the Small Towns Environments in Volyn in 1921-1939" that Yulia conducts under the supervision of the Doctor of Architecture, professor Olha Myhaylyshyn. The towns the scholar focuses on include, among others, Volodymyr-Volynskyi, Horokhiv, Hoshcha, Dubno, Zdolbuniv, Kremenets, Kostopil, Kovel, Korets, Luboml, Ostroh, Radyvyliv, Rozhyshche, Rokytne, and Sarny. Her work intends to conduct a thorough historical architectural analysis for the development of the stated group of objects in the European and Polish contexts. The research is based on the overview of research publications and sources (archival drawings and iconographic materials) from Ukrainian and Polish collections.
The research stay in Lviv intends to explore the resources of the Center (books from the library collection, collection of archival documents, maps, periodicals, etc.) and to work on materials on the topics. Her work has the capacity to make a contribution to the cause of protection and preservation of common architectural heritage of Ukraine and Poland. Moreover, it can be the basis for renovation of the preserved interwar architecture of towns in Volyn, and for integration of the preserved objects into modern urban planning system.
