During the presentation of a research project by 2010 Center grantee Oleksander Obchenko, questions related to the socio-cultural development of the Zmiivsky micro-region, within the determined historical period, as a typical Slobozhanska site were looked at. Principle attention was paid to the question of possible influences of modernization on this micro-region within the context of social, educational, ethnic and urban development processes, etc., through which it is possible to partly reconstruct the socio-mental component of the said site and their potential changes.
Proposed questions to be discussed were the following:
- Socio-cultural research of the Slobozhans’ka province within the framework of historical urban studies and local history – development and perspectives of academic problems.
- Sources and a methodological basis for research.
- Modernization and its influence on the socio-mental domain of Slobozhanska province: attempting a complex approach.
