In this seminar grant resident of the Center Mayhill Fowler discussed the 1929 production of Allo na khvyli 477 at Les Kurbas’ Berezil theatre in Kharkiv. This was the first Ukrainian-language revue show in Soviet Ukraine and one that highlighted the formation of a cultural establishment in the young capital.
The broad themes of her project were also discussed:
- the relationship between the arts and the Soviet state in the interwar period
- the formation of an artistic establishment
- the changing position of theatre in the Soviet space
- the project of creating a culture that is modern and urban as well as Ukrainian.
