Solitude – Presence
November 2010 - January 2011
Exhibition Hall, Center for Urban History
The exhibition encompassed painting, sculpture, video animation and social photography from three cities: Lviv, Berlin and New York. The exhibition in the Center’s gallery was supplemented by academic and poetic reflections and accompanied by oral commentaries in Ukrainian, French, German and Polish. Poems were written by all those who desired during the exhibit.
Center hosted a multifaceted academic-socio-artistic program about solitude. It has as its goal the reconsideration of solitude, which encourages the respect of one’s own solitude and the solitude of others, but also prompts the search for forms of openness and interaction. The multifaceted program in the 10-week show about solitude included:
- An artistic seminar for architects DESIGN ANTI-SOLITUDE (3 days, 35 dazzling architects from Lviv, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odessa, international jury and consultants)
- Chamber symposium in two parts:
I. COOPERATION OF ARTISTS. THE DREAM OF VAN GOGH
II. INTELLECTUAL RIGHTS AND CREATIVE COMMONS - Interdisciplinary polemics about solitude. Round table: Philosophy + Physics + Art
- Presentation of the educational-poetic album SOLITUDE by the Kyivo-Mohylianska Academia publishing house, Dukh i Litera
- Interdisciplinary cycle LESSONS about solitude
- Every Friday the best FILMS about solitude + coffee + reflection
- Closing of the exhibition: reading of POETRY about solitude
- Internet-COMMUNITY about solitude
The project has been realized in cooperation with three non-profit organizations: The group "Points Coeur" which is a missionary organization based on Catholic principles, the Center for Urban History of East Central Europe and the foundation of contemporary sacred art "Symbolum Sacrum," with the support of international diplomatic and business organizations.
