Support the Center for Urban History
After February 24 when the armed forces of the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine, launching a full-scale invasion on our country, our lives and work have changed. We developed emergency programs and activities and work in these directions:
Academic
- documenting the war:
- oral testimonies of refugees, volunteers, military, and professionals (for example heritage protection, medics) in cooperation with researchers and institutions in Lviv, other cities in Ukraine, Warsaw, Krakow, Budapest and Bucharest (more to come);
- visual materials of urban life, in cooperation with photographers and journalists, as well as crowdsourcing, reaching out through social media to citizens documenting their life;
- archiving the websites, social media, and multimedia content published by citizens, organizations, initiatives, and audio stories of people expressing their experiences with the Russian war against Ukraine on a personal level.
- supporting researchers who had to flee their home cities and stay and work in Lviv by affiliating them with the Center and engaging in projects of documentation, humanitarian initiatives and communication
Communication
- with international academia on how to diversify and decolonize teaching and researching Ukraine and Eastern Europe;
- developing a series of publications in international media outlets to deepen understanding of the culture and history of Ukraine
