Center for Urban History, Lviv
Jewish History and Culture of East-Central Europe summer school will host a presentation of Krystyna Chiger’s book "The Girl in the Green Sweater".
This book is Ms Chiger’s recollections of Lviv during World War II. For 14 months, from 1943-1944, the 8 year old, hid in the sewers with her younger brother, parents, and a group of other Jews. Thanks to the help of three sewer workers, this group avoided execution by the Nazis. With incredible candor, she describes how they survived in Ukraine during Soviet and German occupation.
The book was presented by Yaroslav Kit and Beate Jahn.
