Texts for Theater, Texts about Theater
9.9.2015, 15:00
Small Stage of the First Academic Ukrainian Theater for Youth (11 Hnatiuka St.)
"I talked directly with the playwrights, talked to them about what we need, on the finished dramatic material, where we should place emphasis, how children can better interpret certain parts of a play. They were very open to the discussion..." (quote from an interview from the collection "Theaters of Lviv after 1945").
Theater communicates in different languages: flexibility, color, light, sound, and words. It creates and converts texts, interprets them, emphasizes certain meanings and eliminates others. During the meeting we will talk about how theater worked and works with texts, which texts it needs, and how texts change it. In addition, we will think about the texts which appear as a result of theatrical texts processes in Ukraine and whether these texts meet the needs of the theatrical environment and "consumer culture."
