Someone’s or Shared: Who Owns Heritage
28.7.2015, 19:00
Ratusha Restaurant (Rynok Sq. 1), Lviv
A researcher of Jewish history from New York Natalia Aleksyun and researcher from Wroclaw Dr. Joanna Lisek will start "Jewish Days at the City Hall" with a talk about who owns heritage. Is the history of a particular community important for understanding the history of a whole city? Who is responsible for maintaining the "foreign" heritage – only direct descendants or absolutely all citizens of the city? In what way does forgotten or unforgotten history of our "yesterday" affect the state of our "today"? Particular attention will be given to the examples of three cities: Wroclaw, Warsaw, and Vilnius.
Moderator: Iryna Magdysh.
Event was a part of the program "Jewish Days at the City Hall: Common Heritage and Responsibility".
