The presentation invited to participate Natalia Mysak (Center for Urban History, National University "Lviv Polytechnics"), Vlad Tyminskyi (CANactions), Svitlana Shlipchenko (Center for Urban Studies of the Kyiv Mohyla Academy National University), and Andriy Shuliar (urban curators). Moderated by Natalia Otrishchenko (Center for Urban History).
May 30, 7 pm
Book presentation "Labour, Exhaustion, and Success: Company Towns of the Donbass." Participants: Iryna Sklokina, Olena Stiazhkina, Kseniya Kuzina. During the presentation, they will discuss the issues of past and future of industrial mono-towns, particularly the approaches to their representation in media, such as in photography and art. The difference between "external" observers who would often use the perspective of "otherness" of the mono-towns and that of the residents enables taking a critical look on the established (and iconic) images of industrial mono-towns and the entire region.
