Center for Urban History, Lviv

The focus of the discussion was on the problem of how in different countries, where previously "heritage" was usually determined by categories of high and national culture, approaches to the industrial as heritage were formed. How are understandings of the industrial heritage changing today, in the conditions of a crisis/transformation of the narrative of national history? What groups and institutions that contribute to the rethinking of the industrial exist, and how do their activities relate to the creation of regional identities of industrial regions? What place is occupied by cultural institutions, among other actors, in this process? Can a heritage boom meet the challenges of the post-industrial era in the old industrial regions?

In the discussion participated:
Sofia Dyak, Center for Urban History, Lviv
Dagmar Kift, LWL-Industriemuseum in Dortmund
Anna Medvedeva, "Isolation," Donetsk-Kyiv
Pavel Yahlo, Director of "History of New Guta" at the Museum of History in Krakow
Moderator - Iryna Sklokina, Center for Urban History.

Discussion was a part of the lecture and discussion program of the DonKult cultural forum.
