Including Volunteers in Projects Protecting Cultural Monuments: The Example of the Jewish Heritage in Poland

Participating will be Kornelia Kurowska ("Borussia" Foundation, Olsztyn), Emil Majuk and Aleksandra Zincuk (Grodzka Gate—NN Theatre Centre, Lublin), and Marcin Dziurdzik (Museum of the History of the Polish Jews, Warsaw). This event is part of the international seminar "Jewish Heritage in Ukraine and Belarus: Protection, Education, Popularization."

The project is directed towards long-term cooperation and joint discussions, in local academic and social environments of Poland, Belarus, and Ukraine, aimed at protecting Jewish heritage. The project is a co-initiative of the Jewish Historical Institute (Warsaw), the Grodno State University named Janka Kupala (Grodno), the Center for Studies of History and Culture of Eastern-European Jews (Kyiv), the Center for Studies of Interethnic Relations in Eastern Europe (Kharkiv), the "Borussia" Foundation (Olsztyn) and the Grodzka Gate—NN Theatre Centre, (Lublin) and is realized thanks to the support of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation's program "RITA—Region in Transition."
