About Urban Image Database
The Urban Image Database brings together visual representations on printed images (photographs, postcards, lithographs, etc.), collecting visual information on the history of the towns and cities of East Central Europe and working with public and private archives.
The UID project seeks to facilitate access to the visual collections of public and private archives and to disseminate information on the potential of digitalization in the humanities.
The files in the UID database are categorized according to international standards, especially the Dublin Core Standard, the Visual Arts Data Service, the Technical Advisory Service for Images (TASI), and the Research Libraries Group. Images can be searched by various search criteria through our on-line system.
All digitized materials are part of the library of the Center for Urban History of East Central Europe.
